Laghu Vajrasana registers as 23* on BKS Iyengar’s 60* scale of difficulty.
As Iyengar explains, laghu means “little, small, easy as well as lovely, handsome, beautiful” and vajra means thunderbolt. So, I’ve provided the translation of this pose as Little, Beautiful Thunderbolt Pose. Was there ever a sweeter yoga pose name?
As you can see, I’m still working towards getting my head to my feet in this pose. But, I have to say, I love the way this pose feels. It’s beautiful! And, in a sense, little – a pose that curls into itself in a sweet surrender. If Kapotasana is in your practice, try Laghu Vajrasana and tell me what you think!
What are your favorite, beautiful, little (or not-so-little) poses?
